Lattice overview

Lattice / Automatic handoff

A usage limit can be a handoff.

When an account reaches its limit, Lattice can continue the task in the same pane with another signed-in Claude or Codex account. The next session gets a handoff packet with the context available to carry on.

  1. 01

    Detect the limit

Lattice watches for supported usage-limit messages in the terminal.

  2. 02

    Choose the next account

Use an available signed-in account, ranked by remaining usage or your preferred order.

  3. 03

    Pass the work forward

The next session receives the original goal, recent requests, project state, and next steps.

The handoff packet

The next session gets a useful starting point.

Lattice gathers the available task context into a compact packet. Older material is trimmed to fit, and common credential patterns are redacted.

  • Original goal and recent requests
  • Decisions, next steps, and blockers
  • Files touched and current Git state
  • Checks run and their results
  • Recent conversation and tool activity
  • A cleaned tail of terminal output

You can also start a manual handoff, review and edit its prompt, or copy the packet into another terminal.

Automatic handoff is opt-in. Switching between Claude and Codex has its own setting. A handoff does not grant new permissions or approve prompts for you.
