Watch it.
Keep it.

The useful part of a video shouldn’t disappear when you close the tab.

Pick a window. Download the original or record what plays. Reel turns it into a searchable transcript and insights you can come back to.

can pick up.

Browser detection finds a page address. The companion selects an individual player. Recording captures the part you actually play.

A page URL isn’t a promise to download. Reel checks whether the source can be downloaded before adding it to the queue. If it cannot, your selection stays ready to record. It does not recognize video boundaries from screen pixels, and a page with several videos may need the companion.

02 / FROM PLAYBACK TO PERSPECTIVE

One good video.
Three simple steps.

01

Pick your source.

Open Reel and press ⌘⇧Y, or click Pick a video. Click a window or drag a rectangle around the video. You can also paste a link or import a file.

02

Download or record.

Choose Download full video when a browser URL is found. Or choose Record selection, play the video, and press ⌘⇧X to stop and transcribe.

03

Keep the useful parts.

Open the transcript and insights in your library. Captions are preferred when available; otherwise Reel transcribes locally. Use Show files to find your saved media and text.

Set up your Mac.

In Reel’s Connections, allow Screen & System Audio Recording. Allow browser Automation when prompted to enable page detection. Configure your Whisper model and Path connection for transcription and insights.

Need to pick a specific player?

In Connections → Optional browser companion, open the extension folder. Load it unpacked in a Chrome-family browser, then paste Reel’s pairing key into the companion. Press ⌥⇧Y in the browser to select a video.

The desktop picker works without an extension. The companion is optional.

03 / A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Before you hit record.

Does it record my microphone or monitor my screen?

The microphone stays off. Reel takes a screen snapshot when you open the picker; recording starts only when you choose Record. System audio may include other playing apps, so pause unrelated audio first.

Does every website or browser work?

No. Automatic page detection supports the browsers listed above and needs a matching window title and Automation permission. Other browsers can use pasted links or recording. Downloads depend on the site and the installed downloader. Protected video may also block screen capture.

What are the capture limits?

Downloads target up to 1080p with a 5 GB limit. Recordings stop at four hours or approximately 5 GB. A recording includes only what plays after you start. Window capture follows the selected window; region capture stays in the rectangle you chose.

Where do my files and insights go?

Media and transcripts are saved on your Mac in Reel’s Application Support folder. Transcription uses local tools. Insights analyze the transcript, not video frames, through your configured Path workers, which may contact cloud model providers.

How do I get Reel?

Reel is currently a Mac app distributed directly by Juracich. There is no public installer on this page yet. Contact Juracich for access and setup. The current packaged build is for Apple Silicon and requires the media tools, a Whisper model, and Path to be configured separately.
